Srinagar June 22 : Unseasonal snowfall and heavy rains in the upper reaches of Pir Panjal area has left hundreds of nomadic families in distress as they along with their livestock have got stuck in snow in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.The upper reaches like Rich Bagla, Katoria Sar and Rupri Marg have received heavy snowfall and there is fear of huge loss to livestock of nomads.

In an address at a seminar, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari said there will be a need for the force to prepare for ‘short swift wars’ and be ready for long-drawn standoff akin to what had been seen in eastern Ladakh.

The Multi-Mode Passive Detection System (MMPDS) is an advanced version of the scanning system which is not based on X-Ray and it can monitor all vehicles entering in the territory. The MMPDS is a safe, effective and reliable automated scanning system that quickly detects, locates and identifies explosives, weapons, drugs, tobacco, alcohol, humans, other contraband, as well as unshielded to heavily shielded radiological and nuclear threats, the Indian officials said.
