Srinagar, March 24. 2014: The family of a Kashmiri youth, Muhammad Rafiq Shah, who is detained in New Delhi’s Tihar jail since 2005, has said that he has been attacked and seriously injured in an assault by criminal elements in the jail.

Jammu, January 16, 2014: The local police have arrested a Special Police Officer (SPO) for allegedly outraging the modesty of an Australian national at the Jammu railway station on Jan 15.
According to police sources, the SPO, identified as Jeet Lal, allegedly used abusive language and outraged the modesty of the Australian national, who had come to the town for a religious tour.
Srinagar, 24 October 2013 : A human rights forum, the Voice of Victims, in a report has revealed the presence of around 130 unidentified bodies in two graveyards of Sumbal area of Sonawari. The report said that twenty of these bodies were mutilated while some graves contained more than one body.
Muzaffarabad, October 04, 2013: Indian army during shelling on the area of Line of Control killed a two year child and injured five other civilians in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
"A two-year-old boy who was injurdin shelling by Indian troops has died at hospital, while five other injured persons in Kotli district are still under treatment," Masood-ur-Rehman, local administration official, told AFP. He said that three women and two men were also injured in the shelling in village of Rud Karthar on the Line of Control in Kotli district. . Media reports

Srinagar, Saturday, 05 October 2013: Indian troops abducted a 35-year-old woman, who was at her father's home in Zalgam Kokernag,in Islamabad (Anantnag) was abducted by an men in uniform and taken to nearby forests.
The survivor, who is a mother of three children, said: "At 1:00 AM on Saturday late night, I came out in the compound of my father's house. Suddenly, men in army uniform, appeared and whisked me away. I tried to shout, but I couldn't. They took me to the jungle," the woman, who was not in a position to speak in detail, said.

Washington, April 22 : The US State Department has said that the police authorities in Kashmir routinely deny medical assistance and legal counsel to detainees, booked under the draconian Public Safety Act.The US State Department’s recent report on ‘Country Reports on Human Rights Practices for 2012’ says that the PSA, which applies only in Kashmir, permits authorities to detain persons without charge or judicial review for as long as two years.
