Srinagar, March 7, 2013: Indian paramilitary forces and police personnel used brute force and fired teargas and peppers shells to disperse protesters in Hyderpora, Batmaloo and Zakoora in Srinagar, Khanpora, Cement Bridge and Palhalan in Baramulla, Narbal crossing in Budgam, Papchan in Bandipora and Cherkoot-Lolab in Kupwara district, a police spokesman said.
At least a dozen people were injured.

Srinagar, December 26: In Srinagar, the Human Rights Commission of Kashmir has ordered the Superintendent of Police (SP) to hold inquiry into pending Gawkadal massacre and submit a report within two months. The inquiry has been ordered on a complaint filed by human rights activist, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo on May 1, 2012. On 21st of January 1990 a peaceful demonstration protesting against Chota Bazar molestation, at Gow Kadal, Srinagar was fired by  Indian troops resulting into the death of 50 persons and several others injured.

Srinagar, December 22, 2012:  The policemen arrested a   young girl during house raid from her house in southern district Islamabad (Anantnag) on charges of participation of protesting against the atrocities of Indian paramilitary forces during mass agitation in 2010 in Kashmir.
Police claimed that the girl, Zahida Akhtar, a resident of Boateng village of Khanbal in Islamabad (Anantnag) district, has participated on stone pelting and anti-India protest during the 2010 street protests, which had Kashmir on a boil for around five months. 

Srinagar, December 07:  Kashmir based tourist traders has said that 140 hotels and guest houses continue to be under the occupation of Indian forces and the leaders and activists of various political parties in Srinagar only.  They also said that the tourism department of giving bad name to Kashmir tourism by erecting hoardings across Srinagar warning the tourism tourist traders not to cheat and harass the tourists.

Srinagar, June 23, 2012: Family members of the youth arrested by the police in south Kashmir Islamabad (Anantnag) town staged a sit-in outside the police station on Saturday.  Policemen have detained at least 11 persons including four minors in sourtthern town Islamabad (Anantnag) on June 19.

Srinagar, June 23, 2012: Despite clear orders from Indian Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Indian paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is adamant on not vacating the Centaur Lakeview Hotel in Srinagar which they have been occupying for years, despite the police already having identified an alternative accommodation for them.

MHA has asked the Indian police and military agencies to vacate hotels and guesthouses in Srinagar in view of heavy tourist rush and dearth of accommodation for them.

Srinagar, March 9 2012: Omar Abdullah has admitted and disclosed that there are 36,600 widows, orphans and handicapped persons since the military violence erupted in 1990 in Jammu and Kashmir.
As per the survey conducted by Rehabilitation Council of Social Welfare Department in 2007-08, among the victims 8616 were widows and 26086 orphans and 1903 disabled, handicapped persons affected by military related incidents of violence ,said Omar Abdullah gave this breakup in a written reply today.

Geneva, March 1, 2012: In Geneva, the United Nations Working Group on Human Rights, in its report submitted to the UN General Assembly, expressed serious concern over the allegations of enforced disappearances and presence of mass graves in occupied Kashmir.
According to 170-page report, the operations by military and paramilitary forces between 1989 and 2009 in Kashmir had resulted in more than 8,000 enforced and involuntary disappearances.
