Curfew continues in Kashmir Valley, several Injured

Srinagar, March 7, 2013: Indian paramilitary forces and police personnel used brute force and fired teargas and peppers shells to disperse protesters in Hyderpora, Batmaloo and Zakoora in Srinagar, Khanpora, Cement Bridge and Palhalan in Baramulla, Narbal crossing in Budgam, Papchan in Bandipora and Cherkoot-Lolab in Kupwara district, a police spokesman said.
At least a dozen people were injured.
The strict curfew  continued in force in Rainawari, Maharajgunj, Safakadal, Khanyar, Nowhatta, Zadibal, Kralkhud and Maisuma in Srinagar, Sopore, Baramulla, Trehgam Kupwara, Pampore, Pulwama, Shopian and Kulgam areas.
Kashmir observed a shutdown for the fourth consecutive day on Thursday even as authorities continued curfew in several parts of the Valley to prevent pro-freedom protests. The protests were going on agaisnt the killing of Kashmiri research scholar in Indian city Hyderabad and  another student in Rashtriya Rifles firings in Baramulla town.Kashmir police registered an FIR against 46 Rashtriya Rifles's Col Dalbinder Singh for killing the 23-year-old Tahir Ahmad Sofi  in Baramulla.
On Saturday, a 28-year-old student, identified as Mudasir Ahmed Malla, was found mysteriously dead in his hostel room in the Indian city of Hyderabad. The relatives of victims said that the torture marks were seen on the body of Mudasir while the university colleagues of the victim said that the proctor of university is responsible in the death of Malla.
“Curfew remains in force in eight police station Rainawari, Maharajgunj, Safakadal, Khanyar, Nowhatta, Zadibal, Kralkhud and Maisuma areas of Srinagar city and Sopore (Baramulla district), Trehgam (Kupwara district) and Kulgam towns,” a police spokesman said.
Over 50 protestors were injured in the city and other parts of the Valley on Tuesday evening.
Authorities suspended internet, cell phone and cable TV services besides imposing curfew at several places in Kashmir on Wednesday to prevent protests against the killing of a 25-year-old youth in Army firing in Baramulla a day earlier.
