Srinagar, December 07: Kashmir based tourist traders has said that 140 hotels and guest houses continue to be under the occupation of Indian forces and the leaders and activists of various political parties in Srinagar only. They also said that the tourism department of giving bad name to Kashmir tourism by erecting hoardings across Srinagar warning the tourism tourist traders not to cheat and harass the tourists.
President of Travel Agents Association Kashmir (TAAK), Rauf Tramboo, in a media interview in Srinagar said, if these hotels and guest houses are freed it may solve the accommodation problem to the tourists to a great extent.
He said that the tourism department was defaming tourism industry in the territory by erecting hoardings across Srinagar warning the tourism traders not to cheat and harass the tourists. “Erecting hoardings and asking the tourism traders not to cheat the tourists means the people associated with the tourism are cheaters. There may be some elements involved in cheating but displaying hoardings project every tourist trader as cheater,” he maintained.
Rauf Tramboo, said that at least 140 hotels and guest houses in Srinagar remain under the occupation of forces, political leaders and activists. “This was accommodation problem due to the huge rush of tourists to valley this year. 140 hotels and guesthouses continue to be under the occupation of forces and political activists. If these hotels and guesthouses are freed it may solve the accommodation problem to a great extent,” Tramboo said. News agencies KT
