Shining Ugliness: A Catalogue of Fascist Bharat’s “Incredible” Crimes

As many of you know, almost everything I share on panels like this one is based on what I have personally lived through and which has made me what I am today. That sometimes gives me a very different vocabulary, one that is often more emotional and often quite angry. This anger is often reflected when I meet with lawmakers and think tankers about their double standards in Washington. Most recently, I have been handing out a brochure created by IPRI and called “Shining Ugliness: A Catalogue of Fascist Bharat’s “Incredible” Crimes. It is an excellent compilation of Modi India’s dirty deeds and one everybody must see. I believe it is time for everybody to get as angry as I have been for years.

BJP Govt Deliberately Dismantling Minority Structures in India: Noted Activist John Dayal

New Delhi, March 3: The  Indian renowned intellectual, social worker, author, and champion of the rights of the Christian community, John Dayal has expressed grave concern over the deliberate attempt by the Hindutva BJP Indian government to target minority communities in India.The recent shutting down of the Maulana Azad Foundation by the BJP government has ignited a firestorm of criticism  and concern from various quarters concerned with minority affairs. The renowned intellectual, social worker, author, and champion of the rights of the Christian community, John Dayal, talking exclusively  to media said the closure of the fund and several other decisions are part of a disturbing trend. He sees these decisions as Narendra Modi’s agenda to dismantle established frameworks safeguarding minority rights.

Indian Army personnel commit suicide at DRDO facility in Odisha, India

Kendrapara (Odisha, India), March 3:  An Indian army personnel committed suicide by shooting himself dead with his service rifle in Odisha state in India.  A 35-year-old Indian army man allegedly shot himself dead with his service rifle at DRDO's Radar Observatory Air Surveillance unit in Odisha's Kendrapara district, Indian police said on Sunday. 

Spanish woman on tour with husband gang-raped in Jharkhand

 Ranchi,Mar 03, 2024 : A woman from Spain was  gang-raped in disturbed  Jharkhand state in India.The incident took place when the tourist couple was spending the night at a makeshift tent at Kurumahat in Hansdiha police station of Dumka district of the state.The couple had reached Indian city Dumka from Bangladesh on two motorcycles and was en route to Bihar and then Nepal.

Occupied Kashmir high court quashes black law PSA detention of five youth

Srinagar, February 27:  The High Court of the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) has quashed detention under  black law Public Safety Act (PSA) against five innocent detainees and ordered their immediate release if not wanted in any other case.  A bench of Justice Vinod Chatterji Koul quashed detention orders against Ghowhar Ahmad Bhat,  Irshad Ahmad Bhat, Nadeem Ayoub Itoo and Arshid Ahmad Mir after they were allowed separately filed petitions.

Indian troops arrest four youth in Kulgam

 Srinagar, Feb 26: Indian troops arrested four youth in Kulgam district ct of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Indian forces of   Army’s 01Rashtriya Rifles and CRPF 18Bn  during cordon and search operation arrested identified as Zahoor Ahmad Pandit son of Abdul Gani Pandit, Basir Hussain Pandit son of Farooq Ahmad Pandit, Imtiyaz Gull son of Gull Mohd Bhat and Gulzar Ahmad Khar son of Ghulam Mohd Khar all residents of Wanpora in Qaimoh area of Kulgam district.

New Delhi, February 26: A Kashmiri Pandit academic and writer, Professor Nitasha Kaul, based in the United Kingdom, faced a troubling situation at the hands of Indian government upon her arrival at Bengaluru airport in Karnataka state in India. 

275 Custodial Rape Cases Filed Between 2017-22 in India: NCRB

 New Delhi,  February 26: More than 270 cases of rape in custody were registered from 2017 till 2022, in India. The  India’s National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB)  data, with women rights activists attributing such instances to a lack of sensitisation and accountability within law enforcement systems said  atleast 270 cases of rape in custody were registered from 2017 till 2022.
