10 years on, fake encounter victim’s family awaits justice in Kashmir

 Srinagar, October 18, 2012 : The family of a mechanic, Kala Khan of Lisana village of Tehsil Surankote, who was killed in a fake encounter by Indian troops in 12 February 2002, is still waiting for justice. The deceased Kala Khan was the lone bread-earner of his wife, six daughters and three sons. His family members have been knocking at all the doors including the Human Rights Commission of Lasj,or for last 10 years to get justice but did not succeed.

354 still booked under long-gone black laws TADA, POTA in Kashmir

 Srinagar, October 11: In Srinagar, the regime led by Omar Abdullah on Wednesday hags admitted that 354 people were charged under the repealed black laws — Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Act (TADA) and Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) in Jammu and Kashmir.
Giving information to the supplementary question of Congress puppet legislator Ravinder Kumar Sharma, the authorities of regime informed the so-called Legislative Council that 323 persons were booked under TADA in 63 cases and 31 under POTA — repealed long back. 

APDP demands probe

 Srinagar, September 28 : In Srinagar, the Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDP) has appealed to the world community to impress upon India to end injustice in Jammu and Kashmir and allow the international institutions to probe human rights abuses perpetrated by its troops in Kashmir.

Srinagar, August 15, 2012: In Srinagar, several human rights groups have expressed shock over the regime led by Omar Abdullah and Indian establishment or authorities announcement of awards to tainted police officials involved in heinous crimes, including custodial killings, fake encounters and rapes. The regime has awarded around 50 police officials with Presidential, Police and different medals.

Police actions injured dozens mourners, 200 arrested

Srinagar, December 4, 2011:  Scores of mourners were injured and more than 200 including Hurriyet leaders, Masroor Abass and Nisar Ahmad Rather were arrested when Indian police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel resorted to brute force and lobbed teargas shells to prevent them from taking out 8th Muharram processions In Sriangar. The authorities had imposed restrictions in the city to prevent the Muharram procession on Sunday December 4, 2011.

Over 50 protesters arrested since Friday protests in Kashmir

Srinagar,  November 29, 2011:  Over 50 people, including 21 minors, have been arrested by police since Friday for taking part in protests, a senior police officer said, claiming the crackdown against stone-throwers would continue. Among those detained were three children aged between nine and 12 years picked up by police.

Protests had erupted in different parts of Srinagar on Friday against the continued detention of political prisoners and minors.

14,231 custodial deaths from 2001 to 2010 in India and Kashmir: ACHR

New Delhi, November 21, 2011 : In New Delhi, the Asian Centre for Human Rights(ACHR), in a report said that 14,231 persons had been killed in custody in India from 2001 to 2010. The report pointed out that custodial rape remains one of the worst forms of torture perpetrated on women by law enforcement personnel in India.
