Special Police Officer rapes 13-year-old in Poonch Kashmir

Poonch May 8,2012 : A  constable of Special Police Officer forcebly molested and raped a young girl in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. Constable Mohammad Tahir raped the13-year-girl who is reported was his step-daughter at his residential quarters in District Police Lines in Poonch when his wife had gone to Rajouri district for some work on Sunday night, a police officer told to media . The girl narrated the entire happening to her mother, who returned in the morning and a complaint was lodged against the constable in Poonch, he said.

Justice delivery painfully slow in Kashmir: Amnesty

Body recovered

Srinagar, April 21,2012: body of 55-year-old person was recovered in suspicious circumstances in Islamabad district. Bijbehara police recovered a dead body a laborer by profession Mohammad Ashfaq Gorsi, (55), son of Mehraj-u-Din resident of Chambal Banihal at Baba Mohalla in Bijbehara, said a police spokesman.

4 Kashmiri students fear for their life

New Delhi, April 0 4, 2012: A new book written by foreign investigative journalists Adrian Levy and Catherine Scott-Clark has said that four foreign tourists abducted from Pahalgam in South Kashmir Islamabad in 1995 were killed by a group of militants-sponsored by Indian army. Now a new book said that they were killed by a group of militants sponsored by the Indian army, writes the Asian Age.

The fate of the four Western tourists abducted in Kashmir in June 1995 has never been known for sure.

A 20-year detainee dies in police custody in Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 22, 2012:  A 20-year old Sajad Ahmad Dar detained under black law, Public Safety Act (PSA) died in a Hospital in Srinagar due to lack of timely medical treatment. The family of the deceased said that infamous Indian armed group; Special Operations Group was responsible for the death, as they did not provide him medical treatment despite court directions. He was detained under draconian law, Public Safety Act (PSA) at Kupwara district jail died in a hospital in Srinagar.

36,600 widows, orphans in Kashmir

Srinagar, March 9 2012: Omar Abdullah has admitted and disclosed that there are 36,600 widows, orphans and handicapped persons since the military violence erupted in 1990 in Jammu and Kashmir.
As per the survey conducted by Rehabilitation Council of Social Welfare Department in 2007-08, among the victims 8616 were widows and 26086 orphans and 1903 disabled, handicapped persons affected by military related incidents of violence ,said Omar Abdullah gave this breakup in a written reply today.
