Amnesty International to come up with comprehensive Kashmir HR report

Srinagar, April 23, 2012: The global human rights group, Amnesty International team, which has just finished their 10-day visit to Kashmir, will visit again to Kashmir in near future. After taking cognizance of latest human rights violations and detention of youths under the black law, Public Safety Act, the two-member Amnesty International team left the Valley on Sunday said Amnesty International will come up with a comprehensive report over the happenings in Valley.

India-backed militants killed 4 western tourists in Kashmir in 1995: Book report

New Delhi, April 0 4, 2012: A new book written by foreign investigative journalists Adrian Levy and Catherine Scott-Clark has said that four foreign tourists abducted from Pahalgam in South Kashmir Islamabad in 1995 were killed by a group of militants-sponsored by Indian army. Now a new book said that they were killed by a group of militants sponsored by the Indian army, writes the Asian Age.

The fate of the four Western tourists abducted in Kashmir in June 1995 has never been known for sure.

A 20-year detainee dies in police custody in Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 22, 2012:  A 20-year old Sajad Ahmad Dar detained under black law, Public Safety Act (PSA) died in a Hospital in Srinagar due to lack of timely medical treatment. The family of the deceased said that infamous Indian armed group; Special Operations Group was responsible for the death, as they did not provide him medical treatment despite court directions. He was detained under draconian law, Public Safety Act (PSA) at Kupwara district jail died in a hospital in Srinagar.

36,600 widows, orphans in Kashmir

Srinagar, March 9 2012: Omar Abdullah has admitted and disclosed that there are 36,600 widows, orphans and handicapped persons since the military violence erupted in 1990 in Jammu and Kashmir.
As per the survey conducted by Rehabilitation Council of Social Welfare Department in 2007-08, among the victims 8616 were widows and 26086 orphans and 1903 disabled, handicapped persons affected by military related incidents of violence ,said Omar Abdullah gave this breakup in a written reply today.

Indian forces charged with rights abuses, ‘444 FIRs registered in Kashmir

Srinagar, March 6, 2012: In Srinagar, the authorities in Indian-administered Kashmir have admitted that more than 400 cases of human rights abuses against Indian troops and other paramilitary forces personnel were registered in different police station in Jammu and Kashmir.

444 cases were registered against the Indian paramilitary forces and police in Jammu and Kashmir during the last three years, puppet Chief Minister Omar Abdullah informed the so-called Assembly on Monday March 5.

PUDR grills Indian army for impunity claim

New Delhi, March 05, 2011: In New Delhi, Peoples Union for Democratic Rights in a press release has expressed outrage at the claim advanced by the Indian Army that no civil administration could register an FIR against army personnel for their actions without the sanction of the Indian government.

The Peoples Union for Democratic Rights (PUDR in its press release voiced its deep concern at the policy of drift that had taken over and apathy of the authorities when it comes to a crackdown on acts of brutal crime committed by Indian army and police in Kashmir. 

Indian police crackdowns on Kashmiri students in India

Srinagar, March 02, 2012 : The Indian police have tightened crackdowns on Kashmiri youth living in different states of India particularly in New Delhi.

Delhi Police have launched massive crackdowns and enquiries related to Kashmiri youth, certainly making it uneasy for them especially thousands of Kashmiri students studying in India.
