Srinagar, December 21, 2011: A Kashmiri student, arrested by Indian police upon his arrival at Delhi airport from Srinagar on September 12, 2006, is languishing in Tehar jail of India for the last over five years. Sanaullah Radu, father of 35-year-old Pervez Ahmad, with tear in his eyes, told media in Srinagar that his son did M.Sc in Zoology from the University of Pune in 2006. Sanaullha Radu said that on September 12, 2006, Pervez boarded a ticket and left Srinagar for New Delhi to carry out research work at the same university.

Srinagar, December 05, 2011: Hundreds of people in Handwara protested against the Indian troops for beating the civilians at Satkozi village. The residents of Handwara said that the troops entered the houses and started beating the inmates indiscriminately without any reason.
They demanded revocation of the draconian law, Armed Forces Special Powers Act and other such laws granting immunity to troops.

New Delhi, November 30, 2011: In New Delhi, the Foreign Correspondents' Club (FCC) of South Asia has demanded a thorough investigation into the injuries suffered by Associated Press (AP) cameraman Umar Meraj while covering protests in Srinagar on November 25. The Club mentioned that previous appeals to investigate similar incidents involving photojournalists from Agence France Press (AFP) have gone unanswered.
The FCC urged for a thorough probe into the affair, and to take necessary actions to protect journalists covering events in Kashmir.
Srinagar, November 30, 2011: The Committee to Protect Journalists has called for an investigation into the November 25 attack on four journalists reporting on a protest in Srinagar on Friday November 25.
The journalists-- AP Television News cameraman Umar Meraj, Al-Jazeera English online contributor Showkat Shafi, Getty Images photojournalist Yawar Kabli, and photojournalist Shahid Tantray for the Hindi-language daily Dainik Bhaskar--were covering a protest in the city of Srinagar when they were assaulted by paramilitary forces and the police.
