Global Experts, Scholars to Join 3-day Summit Starting on Looming Genocide of Indian Muslims

 WASHINGTON, DC ,February 26, 2022: Over 50 renowned intellectuals, thinkers, scholars and activists are converging at a virtual three-day Summit – called India On The Brink: Preventing Genocide. The summit, with sessions on February 26 through February 28, 2022 has been organized by over 20 global civil rights organizations. The goal of the summit is to draw attention to the looming genocide of Muslims in India and the international community’s moral obligation to take urgent steps in preventing it.  Adama Dieng, former UN under-secretary general and Special Advisor to UN Secretary General on Genocide; Anurima Bhargava, Commissioner of the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF); Gregory Stanton, President, Genocide Watch; Janet Rice, Australian Senator; Jason Stanley, Professor, Yale University; Nicole Widdersheim, US Holocaust Memorial Museum; Prem Shankar Jha, veteran Indian journalist; Angana P. Chatterji, scholar, UC Berkeley; and Aakar Patel, former head of Amnesty International India, are among those who will address the summit.

Srinagar, Feb 25: Indian troops  during cordon and search operation  martyred three Kashmiris in Shopian district. The youth were martyred by Indian army and Central Reserve Police Personnle during cordon and search operation in Amshipora area of the district on Friday morning.

 February 25, 2022: A Gujarat court’s decision to award capital punishment to 38 Muslims have sent shockwaves in the  Muslim  community. Six of them are from Uttar Pradesh’s Azamgarh district. People like me believe that they were are common young men, struggling for their bright future but one fine day, they were caught by the police and put on a 13-year long trial. We hope these people will get justice sooner or later as happened in 2002 Akshardham Temple case when Supreme Court acquitted all six Muslims in terror attack case.

Sikh girl asked to remove turban in Bengaluru

 Bengaluru, February 25, 2022: In India, the Mount Carmel PU College asks the 17-year-old girl to remove her turban in accordance with the February 10 High Court's interim order. Amid crisis related to wearing of head scarp/ hijab in classrooms, an Amritdhari (baptised) Sikh girl was asked to remove her turban in the reputed Mount Carmel PU College here in accordance with the February 10 High Court's interim order. Some parents of the college also complained of being targeted after their daughters were asked to remove the head scarp/ hijab.

Muslim Girl students asked to leave college premises in Udupi

 Mangaluru,Karnatka February 25, 2022: In India, the trouble erupted when some girl students wearing head scarp/ hijab were sent out of the institute premises by the college principal at the MGM college in Udupi. The postgraduate students who sought entry into the college wearing  head scarp/ hijab complained that they were not allowed to attend the classes or enter the college premises, which is in violation of the high court order. The students said they could not appear for their examinations earlier due to the row over the head scarp/ hijab issue.

Indian soldier dies after shed collapses in Srinagar

 Srinagar, February 24:  An Indian soldier died after coming under a shed that collapsed due to snow  in Srinagar city in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.The  Sepoy Altaf Ahmed  of Indian state Karnataka, was standing beside a shed when its roof collapsed leaving the soldier injured inside Badami Bagh Cantonment area of the city.He was shifted to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Head scarp/ Hijab Wearing Students Likely to Miss Exams in Karnataka

 BENGALURU ,February 23, 2022  : In India , the Karnataka students, especially those studying in Class 10 and Class 12, who are being barred from entering the schools and colleges for wearing head scarp/ Hijab, are likely to miss their annual exams. As per the Karnataka High Court’s interim order, students are not allowed to wear hijab inside the classrooms. The annual examinations for SSLC (Class 10) and second PUC (Class 12) are scheduled to be held in April. The authorities have started issuing hall tickets to the students. However, some protesting students are refusing to collect their hall tickets. The education department, according to high level sources, has decided not to allow the students to appear in supplementary exams, which will be held for those who fail in the exams and opt for re-examination. The authorities in Vijayanagara district have continued the prohibitory orders for around 250 pre-university (PU) and 80 graduation colleges. Many students have boycotted the exams insisting to appear in the exams wearing hijab.
