NEW DELHI , India March 9, 2022: Two Muslim men are said to have been thrashed on Sunday night in Gurugram, Haryana state in India, allegedly on account of their religion. The two assailants who attacked the duo initially seemed to have no motive other than that they belong to a particular religion. However, before leaving the spot they snatched their mobile phones and bike. A PTI report, quoted local police as saying the two assailants attacked and hurled religious slurs at Abdur Rehman and his friend Mohammad Azam. The police is said to have identified one of the assailants as Amit.
The incident took place in Gurgaon’s Sector 45, near Ramada Hotel. The victims, who hail from Bihar, were on their way to Chakkarpur village on a motorcycle after collecting donations for a madrassa and had briefly stopped at the hotel, according to PTI. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Aman Yadav confirmed that the police have registered a case based on the complaint by the two Muslim men under Sections malicious intention of outraging religious feelings, common intention.
Giving a detailed account of the incident, Rehman told the Indian Express that one of the two assailants who came on the spot in a white car broke a conversation with them before calling someone on phone. Once his accomplice joined him, both of them started beating us.
“They robbed our mobile phones and motorcycle. One of the accused brought a white powder-like substance from the car and forcibly put it in Azam’s mouth,” he added.
Meanwhile, five students in Gurugram allegedly abducted and assaulted another student for not allowing them free entry to a party. An FIR has been registered against the five students.
