Two more PFI members arrested in Indian city Delhi

New Delhi ,October 6, 2022: In a latest action against the a prominent Muslim political party, Popular Front of India (PFI), the Delhi Police have arrested two of its active members from the Khajuri Khas area in the Indian capital New Delhi. The victims were identified as Israr Ali and Mohammed Samoon and were arrested under black law, Unlawful Activity Prevention Act.


Recently, four PFI members were held after an FIR was lodged with the Shaheen Bagh Police Station in Delhi.
The  BJP government Ministry of Home Affairs had on September 28  banned the Popular Front of India (PFI) and its eight other Muslim parties for five years under the black law, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
This ban came shortly after the Indian agency NIA, ED and various state police forces  launched wide crackdown on the PFI in India.
In 2019, the Uttar Pradesh government sought a ban on the PFI for its alleged involvement in anti-CAA protests in parts of the state.
Thousands of its leaders including women, students, aged leaders, scholars, Ulemas, businessmen have been arrested by Indian agency and police in the past few days. sources
