Srinagar, May 12 : Two Indian Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officers committed suicide in two different places in Srinagar and Islamabad districts, today. A CRPF ASI Fateh Singh committed suicide by shooting self with service rifle on Tuesday morning at Akrun Mattan in Islamabad district . Reports said that Indian forces rushed to the area after hearing the gunshot and recovered Singh’s body in a pool of blood. The CRPF sub-inspector Fatah Singh who had left behind a suicide note that read: “I am afraid, I may have corona.” Officials told media men .
A CRPF ASI shot himself dead and reason for suicide is yet to be ascertained. His family has been informed”, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) said in a statement. A CRPF spokesman said, "There is no evidence that he had corona infection. We are now waiting for the test report." He belonged to Jaisalmer in Rajasthan, India.
In another incident an Assistant Sub-Inspector of CRPF Bangali Babu of Madhya Pradesh also shoot himself dead in his service rifle at Neelam Cinema Karan Nagar in Srinagar, the officer added.
An Indian Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) man died in Jammu city.The CRPF man identified as Constable Arjun Singhd motorcycle when was on his way to a transit camp for duty was hit by a a truck near Shakti Nagar in the city , police said.
An Indian Army man was killed after natural lightening struck near LoC in Saujiyan area of Poonch distict, an official said.
“Natural lightening hit an area , leaving an Army man dead,” Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Poonch, Ramesh K Angral said.
Two other Indian troops were critically injured in a minor explosion that took place in Rajouri area.
Meanwhile, in another tragic incident due to lockdown, a 25 year old pregnant woman from Manzmoo Village of Qazigund died at Maternity and Child Care Hospital in Islamabad district. The family of the deceased pregnant woman said that she wasn’t ‘treated well’ at Government Medical College Islmabad by the doctors and was discharged in a hurry.
Important to mention here, this is third death in Islamabad district since the lockdown. Earlier pregnant women from Kharpora and Salia died in the hospital. Both the cases are under investigation as the families alleged ‘medical negligence and ill treatment due to lockdown .”
Meanwhile,255 persons were arrested, 50 shops sealed and 77 vehicles have been seized against the lockdown violators in Baramulla, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr G N Itoo told media men.
Meanwhile, the High Court has quashed the three detention orders passed by the authorities and directed for release of all them immediately .The authorities while quashing the detention of one Mohammad Ashraf Sheikh ,Shabir Ahmad and Sahil Ahmad who were detained under draconian law Public Safety Act on August last made it clear that the detention orders have been quashed on technical grounds and the authorities are free to pass fresh detention if it necessitates.
The Jammu-Srinagar highway remained closed for heavy traffic due to intermittent shooting of stones from a hillock overlooking the arterial road in Ramban district,officials said. The 270-km highway is the only all-weather road connecting Kashmir with the rest of the world.
The sliding of rocks from a hilltop started at Cafeteria Morh near Ramban town on Monday, forcing the authorities to halt trucks carrying essential commodities to the valley, the officials said.
They said more than 300 trucks and fuel tankers were left stranded between Ramban and Nashri tunnel due to the closure of the road.
