Strict restrictions enforced across Srinagar tomorrow, restrictions already in Islamabad and Baramulla

March 19, 2020 :  The authorities has imposed strict restrictions across the Srinagar district tomorrow (Friday).The District Magistrate, Srinagar in an order says, no public movement or activity will be allowed anywhere in the district. Only government officials with valid IDs will be allowed to move.Concerned agencies have been directed to ensure strict enforcement of restrictions across the district.Strict action will be taken against violators of the order. Government officials have been asked to ensure no one is found ferried in their vehicles.


 The decision to impose restrictions comes in the wake of surfacing of a case testing positive for COVID-19 in the district and is aimed at containing spread of the infection.
 Restrictions imposed on pretext of coronavirus
 Srinagar, March 19 :The authorities have imposed further restrictions on the movement of people in Srinagar ,Islamabad and Baramulla and other districts  on the pretext of coronavirus outbreak.
 Barricades and concertina wires had been erected at many places in Lal Chowk and downtown areas of Srinagar to stop the movement of the public.
 “The restrictions on public gatherings, assembly and movement in many areas are aimed at avoiding the spread of any likely cases,” the Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar, Shahid Iqbal Choudhary wrote on Twitter. 
Meanwhile, the authorities also imposed restrictions in Islamabad and Baramulla districts in the garb of precautionary measures against coronavirus pandemic.
 The district magistrate of Islamabad ordered that there was a complete ban on the assembly of four or more people in any public place till end of the March. 
District Magistrate of Bandipora also ordered imposition of restrictions on public movement under section 144 in the district with immediate effect. According to the order, no public transport shall ply in the district till March 31. “All restaurants, open food courts, roadside eateries, gyms, beauty parlours, snooker clubs, parks shall remain closed”, the order adds.
 Pertinently, few days ago, same restrictions were imposed by the authorities in Budgam, Shopian, Ramban and Kathua districts while strict restrictions were also imposed in Maisuma, Lal Chowk, Gawkadal and Khaniyar area of Srinagar city.
 Coronavirus : All exams postponed till March 31 
Srinagar, March 19 : The authorities in Kashmir University (KU) have postponed all undergraduate and postgraduate exams till March 31 in view of coronavirus scare. 
An official said that the fresh dates of all deferred exams would be notified later separately.
Meanwhile, the Central University of Kashmir (CUK) has also postponed all the examinations with immediate effect.
 The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (BOSE) has also postponed private 10th and 12th class examinations till March 31. “The fresh date sheet will be notified separately,” an official said.
 An official said that the decision to postpone all exams had been taken in wake of the decision by the Srinagar district administration to impose restrictions on the movement of public transport and assembly of people.
 Ban on 3G, 4G internet services extended tillMarch 26
 Srinagar, March 18: The authorities have extended the ban on high-speed 3G and 4G Internet services till March 26 in Jammu and Kashmir.
 The home department of the occupied territory extended the ban on 3G and 4G internet services through an order issued in Srinagar.
 The order by Principal Secretary to the administration, Shaleen Kabra, reads that the restrictions contained under the order dated 04-03-2020 shall continue till 26 March 2020.
