Srinagar,Saturday, 22 March 2014: Ten parents including seven women have died for the last five years while waiting for sons disappeared in custody during the past two decades of military violence in Kashmir.
Ten parents including seven women breathed their last in past five years while protesting for the whereabouts of their beloved ones.
The death of Moguli, a mother of mission one died in the year 2009 while another Haseena Begum died on October 5, 2013 whose son Syed Anwar Shaha wall painter was arrested by Indian police in Srinagar by profession and disappeared in custody on July 21, 2000.
Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDP) Parveena Ahanger stated that Hasserna along with her son’s half widow was fighting for the whereabouts of her lone son for 13 years continuously.
Mahtaba Begum hailing from Karhama died who was looking for her son Mohammad Yaqub Khan, a laborer by profession was arrested during a crackdown by Indian armed forces in the winter of 1990.
Misra begum of Bemina in Srinagar died in the desolation of her only son Shabir Hussain Gasi who wasarrested by Indian armys 6- Rashtirya Rifles (RR) on January 21, 2000.
Hameeda Parveen died in the year 2012 after searching from pillar to post with the hope that her son namely Abid Hussian who was a studen twould one day return to home.
Zona Begum hailing from Raj Bagh in Srinagar died in the year 2011while waiting for her son to return home . Her son Imtiyaz Ahmad a forester disappeared in custody on May 1996 when he was arrested by Indian troops during house raid.
Haleema Begum hailing from Batmaloo in Srinagar died February 2014. She struggled for the last 23 years in search of her son namely Basharat Ahmad Shah who was studying at AliGarg Muslim University. Basharat was arrested on January 7, 1990 by Indian Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) from Sopore town. Bashrat Ahmad Shah a brilliant student of criminology who completed his post graduation in Criminology in AMU Aligarh was a close friend of one Kashmri hr activist and journalist Raies Mir and a scholar Shaikh Mehraj Akram.of Batamaloo Srinagar.
