Srinagar, December 22, 2013: The authorities have imposed restrictions at Palhalan in Pattan area of Baramulla district. The restrictions were imposed after residents mostly youths and women staged protests and clashed with the Indian policemen over the ransacking of a passenger vehicle and arresting of  a local youth.
Massive protests erupted in the area after personnel of Special Task Force (STF) ransacked a passenger vehicle of one Parvez Ahmad Gojri, eyewitnesses said. Police personnel were searching for the arrest of Gojri, who what Indina police claimed is wanted in case of stone pelting which occurred on the eve of Eid in October last.
As the cops failed to nab Parvez Ahmad Gojri a driver by profession, they damaged his vehicle, which provoked people, eyewitnesses added.
Locals said that Indian paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and STF personnel used force to quell protesters.
According to locals all the entry and exit points of Palhalan have been seized and strict restrictions have been imposed from the Higher secondary school area which includes areas Gojri mohalla, Dar mohalla, Naik mohaala, Bagat mohalla, Aarm mohalla, Kitpora and other adjoining areas.
