Police vehicle mows down 10th student in Srinagar, another young boy in Pulwama operation

 January 08, 2020: Tehseen Nazir, 16, was killed after a Jammu Kashmir Police vehicle mowed him down near Nowgam Chowk in south Srinagar city on Tuesday morning.  An eyewitness, Nazir Ahmad Lone, a nearby shopkeeper said the Police vehicle was coming fast from Natipora to Nowgam Bypass direction when the driver of the vehicle hit a Maruti car and a minor boy. Tehseen, who had left his home, Nowgam at around 9 am to attend his tuition classes at Candid High School was walking on the roadside and was a few meters away from his school when suddenly, a Jammu and Kashmir Police bus that was coming behind him hit him, leaving him in pool of blood. Soon after the incident, locals told media men that the Police started firing, teargass shelling  and used brute force to disperse the  protesters.

The news of the accident went viral in the area and people started enquiring about the incident.
Tehseen’s father, Nazir Ahmad Bhat, 46, is working as a helper in the same school.
He was informed by a friend about the accident.
“I rushed to the spot and could not find anyone there. One of the Police personnel told me that my son has been taken to the Police Control Room,” he said. “I was shattered when I heard him saying this.”
After reaching the PCR, the family was told that their son was injured in an accident and later succumbed.
“For some time I could not believe what they were telling me. I was hoping that all this was a lie,” Nazir said. “He was my only son and I was doing everything to keep my family happy. Now, I have lost everything,” Tehseen’s father said as Tehseen’s younger sister, Mehreen repeatedly kept asking her father, “Where has my brother gone? Where has my brother gone?”
After some time, Police told the family to leave for home so that they could complete some formalities in the PCR and only after that hand over the body to the family by evening.
In the meantime, people of the area came on the main road and started protesting over the teenager boy’s killing.
 
To disperse the agitated crowd, the Indian forces fired teargas shells and live ammunitions at them.
 
Locals said that the forces came near Tehseen’s home and harassed women.
“They were beating everyone outside. They smashed window panes of the houses and damaged our property,” Nusrat Jabeen, a local said. She added that the Indian forces not only fired teargas shells inside the locality but hit the mother of the deceased boy as well.  “The Police officer abused us and physically harassed her,” she said.
 
Locals said that in the action of the forces, two people received bullet injuries and in the accident one woman also suffered injuries.
The injured were shifted to Bone and Joint Hospital Barzullah and SMHS hospital Srinagar.  Police registered a case under FIR No 03/2020 w and arrested the driver of the Police vehicle.
 
While another teenage was killed on Tuesday by Indian forces in Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
 
According to reports, Indian army,Central Reserve Police Force and Special operations group (SOG)  laid a cordon around Sail village in Awantipora and killed  Shahid Nazir of Arwani in the area. The Indian army official claimed the youth a member of Hizbul Mujahideen .
 
Meanwhile, the killing of youth set off protest in the area. According to a local newsgathering agency CNS, youth appeared on Srinagar-Jammu highway and staged a protest against the Shahid Nazir’s killing. The Indian police and other paramilitary forces used force and chased them ..
 
On the other hand, a Village Defence Committee (VDC) member Devi Dass was arrested after a case was registered against him for selling the weapon and ammunition in Kishtwar, a senior police officer said. He had purchased the old .303 rifle and ammunition for Rs 1.50 lakh, they said. Senior officer said that weapon was manufactured in the seventies.
