Police barged into houses, ‘Villagers beaten’ in Pulwama, five-year old girl Sabia kicked twice by a policeman, beat up 55-year old woman Mogli in Kashmir

 Srinagar, August 17, 2014: Police personnel of Special Operation Group (SOG) barged into the houses of Muhammad Anwar Da  and Muhammad Yousuf and started mercilessly beating all inmates including women and a 5-year old girl. The cops also beat up all everyone who came in their way, eyewitnesses said.

 People staged protest against the atrocities committed by the forces in Pulwama district.  Scores of people including women and children were beaten by the police personnel at  Koil in Pulwama.

Police personnel of Special Operation Group (SOG) barged into the house of Muhammad Anwar Dar and started mercilessly beating all inmates including women and a 5-year old girl. The cops also beat up all everyone who came in their way, eyewitnesses said.
"Scores of SOG personnel pounced on my family and each family member was caught by many personnel. All of us were beaten up mercilessly. The arm of my son was fractured while other son was also beaten. They beat me by sticks. They even did not spare my five-year old granddaughter Sabia as she was kicked twice by a policeman. They also beat up my 55-year old wife Mogli," Anwar said.

 He said that the whole episode happened in presence of a top police official.

 “On one hand I was being dragged by SOG men and on the other they were beating my two daughters Rozy and Rakshanda,” he said. Mogli, the wife of Muhammad Anwar Dar said: “Police stopped beating us only when my son Shakeel fell unconscious.” 

Eyewitnesses said that the forces also barged into the house of Muhammad Yousuf and thrashed his son Mudasir who sustained injuries in head and was shifted to SMHS Hospital Srinagar.
 The residents further said that they went to police station Pulwama to lodge an FIR but the cops did not pay any heed. 

“We were chased out of the police station,” said Tanveer Ahmad. Locals said that scores of people especially youth were dragged out of homes and beaten up mercilessly.
Protests erupted in the area after the police and Indian forces went on the rampage. Many youth resorted to stone pelting in retaliation.
