Srinagar, February 27: The High Court of the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) has quashed detention under black law Public Safety Act (PSA) against five innocent detainees and ordered their immediate release if not wanted in any other case. A bench of Justice Vinod Chatterji Koul quashed detention orders against Ghowhar Ahmad Bhat, Irshad Ahmad Bhat, Nadeem Ayoub Itoo and Arshid Ahmad Mir after they were allowed separately filed petitions.
The Court directed the authorities to set all these detainees at liberty forthwith provided they were not required in other cases.
The High Court of the territory also granted bail to Baseerat-Ul-Ain who along with Hidayat Ullah Malik and others was charge-sheeted by the NIA Court on fake case.
Granting bail Judges-Justice Tashi Rabstan and Justice Puneet Gupta stated that Baseerat-ul-Ain was granted bail subject to furnishing of personal bond and surety bond to the tune of Rs. one lakh each subject to the satisfaction of Presiding Officer of the trial court.
Fire damages mosque in Kargil
Kargil, February 27: A fire damaged one of the oldest mosques in Kargil area of the Indian illegall occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
A fire damaged one of the oldest Shia mosques at Kargil in the Ladakh region of the territory, hours before the start of night prayers of ‘Shab-e-Barat’.
The fire broke out at Balti Bazar masjid at evening on Sunday and within no time engulfed the entire structure. Fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the blaze was controlled within three hours, avoiding damage to nearby structures including an adjoining ‘Imam Barah’ and residential houses, the police officials said.
Police said the fire was apparently caused by the candles which were used to illuminate the mosque in view of ‘Shab-e-Barat’.
Chairman-cum-Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil, Mohd Jaffer Akhoon visited the site to assess the damage. The CEC underlined the importance of small fire extinguishers at the locality level and said the matter would be taken with the Lieutenant Governor.
