Srinagar, 19 July, 2014: A teenager Suhail Ahmed Lone, 15 year old 9th class student of Government High School Havoora was killed when Indian paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force opened fire on protesters at Mir Bazar Khudwani in Kulgam. People saw Suhail lying in a pool of blood near a shop where he was sitting when CRPF fired directly at him,” an eyewitness said, and added that ‘it was a case of target killing’. Witnesses said Suhail was not a part of protest and he was sitting near a shop watching clashes between government forces and youth.
The minor was killed of bullet injuries after forces opened fire on protesters at Khudwani area of Kulgam in south Kashmir on Saturday. The police said the Indian security forces fired teargas shells and then opened fire to disperse the protesters, injuring three of them critically. The youth has been identified as Suhail Ahmad Lone (15), son of Ghulam Qadir Lone of Havora, Mishpora Khudwani in Kulgam.
Sources said that the forces fired teargas shells and few bullet shots to disperse the protesters resulting in injuries to at least three persons including Suhail.
He was immediately rushed to Janglat Mandi hospital Islamabad where he succumbed to his injuries.
Eye witnesses told media men that 15 year old Suhail Ahmad was killed after hundreds of people protested Saturday against the forces for injuring three youth on Friday during protests. The protests were continue till last reports came in.

The incident took place when protest over the injury of a youth Amir Ahmad Parray in Indian paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force firing in Mir Bazar area of the district on Friday snowballed on Saturday. Parray, 19, a resident of Gufbal village of Qaimoh received a bullet injury on Friday during anti-Israel protest in Qaimou. He was admitted in Soura Institute of Medical Sciences in Srinagar and according to doctors he had received a bullet on the right side of his chest.
Scores of people mostly youth staged a protest against government forces on Saturday and they were demanding stern action against the erring paramilitary troopers.
Eyewitnesses said the street protests continued for hours at Khudwani and Qaimou on Saturday.
“At around 3 pm on Saturday, July 19, CRPF personnel suddenly fired few bullets that created panic in the area,” witnesses said. They said CRPF men from 18 Battalion fired a direct shot at Suhail Ahmed Lone, 15, resident of Misho Hawora, reports daily KDNN in Srinagar.

Suhail was the youngest son of Ghulam Qadir Lone who is a labourer. His family said the elder brother of deceased has already lost an arm in an accident while his another brother is mentally unsound. Suhail was a 9th class student at Government High School Havoora.
Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone Abdul Gani Mir said the incident was unfortunate. “We have taken a serious note of it and have taken up the investigation to ascertain the facts,” he said.
Thousands of people participated in the funeral procession of Suhail. Funeral prayers in his favour were offered at Qaimou and at his native village Misho Wavora. People while participating in the Nimaz-i-Jinazah of Suhail chanted pro-freedom and anti-India slogans. The youth was finally laid to rest amid sobs and tear, witnesses added.
A police official said restrictions have been imposed in the district including Khudwani and Qaimoh.
High tension gripped the south Kashmir area after news about the boy's death spread in the area. Police have registered an FIR in the Incident and matter is being probed, an official said.
The police said a probe has been ordered. "An unfortunate incident of firing has taken place in Khudwani Kulgam in which one boy namely Suhail Ahmad, son of Gulam Qadir lone of Mishipora Howoora Kulgam lost his life. The circumstances leading to the incident of firing are being inquired into,'' said a Srinagar-based police spokesman.
Clashes intensify after teanager's killing in Kashmir

The residents in the village are on roads and are clashing with government forces and the shopkeepers have downed their shutters in the district. Sources in the administration said the road connecting Kulgam with other district has been completely seized. Residents of the village are demanding arrest of forces who fired at protesters, witnesses said.

Thousands of people attended Suhail Ahmad s’ funeral procession (Nimaz-i-Jinazah) chanted pro-freedom and anti-India slogans. The youth was finally laid to rest amid sobs and tear. . People of the area were protesting against highhandedness of the men in uniform after Friday’s protests.
Pertinently a youth was injured on Friday in post Friday clashes between cops and youth. The youth identified as Aamir Ahmad was injured in forces’ firing and is being treated upon in a government hospital.
The locals from Qaimoh and Khudwani areas said that after the Friday protests in the area police and forces went berserk and beat even women folk.
“People were today protesting against the highhandedness of police and forces when and cops used scores of tear gas shells to disperse resulting in heavy clashes,” they said adding the forces also opened fire and killed Suhail.
