Srinagar, April 22, 2014: Unidentified gunmen have killed three persons in two separate attacks in Pulwama district.
The unknown gunmen shot at and killed Muhammad Anwar Khanday, Ghulam Nabi Mir and his son, Firdous Ahmad Mir (24-year old), in Tral area of the district.
Muhammad Anwar Khanday was headman (Nambardar) of Amlar village in Tral and Ghulam Nabi Mir a Sarpanch of Batgund village of Tral, a local police officer said. He said that Firodus was a Government employee working as Panchayat Inspector. Ghulam Nabi Mir and his son Firdous Ahmad Mir who were rushed to a hospital where they succumbed to bullet injuries, sources said.

On other incident, unknown gunmen appeared in Hakerpora village in Pulwama and tried to get hold of Bashir Ahmad Malik, a village headman. However, on seeing the gunmen, Malik managed fled from the spot, sources said. Even as the gunmen fired few shots at Malik, he managed to escape unhurt, sources added.
In a similar attack on April 17, Mohammad Amin Pandith, the head of another village council, was shot dead by an assailant wearing army uniform who lured him out of his house,his brother, Abdul Rahim Pandith, told Reuters.
Meanwhile, over a dozen people were injured when Indian paramilitary and police personnel used brute force and fired bullets to disperse pro-freedom and anti-India demonstrators in Baramulla, Sopore, Palhallan, Bandipora and Pulwama areas.
One of the injured identified as Umar Ashraf, who received pellet injuries, was shifted to a hospital in Srinagar for treatment.
