Srinagar, August 5: A complete shutdown is being observed on Sunday across Kashmir to protest against the attempts to abrogate Indian constitutions Article 35 A.
All the business establishments, government, and private offices are closed, while transport remained off the roads.
Reports said that contingents of Indian paramilitary forces have been deployed in Srinagar and other areas of the valley.
Meanwhile, train services have been suspended by authorities across Kashmir, keeping in view of the shutdown call.
“We have suspended all trains between Srinagar-Budgam-in central Kashmir to Baramulla in north Kashmir today,” a Railway official said. Similarly, no train will chug on Budgam-Srinagar-Islamabad-Qazigund in south Kashmir and Banihal in Jammu region, he said.
Earlier, JRL supported by all other organizations, traders and civil society had called for a shutdown in Jammu and Kashmir on August 5 and 6 to register their total disapproval and resistance to this politically motivated move.

The protesting traders were carrying placards that denounced efforts to undercut the special status of Jammu and Kashmir guaranteed under Article 35-A.
A complete shutdown is being observed in Chenab Valley in Jammu and Kashmir against attempts to abrogate Article 35-A.
The shutdown was supported by Anjuman-e-Islamia Bhadarwah and Majlis-e-Shoura Kishtwar to lodge their protest against any move to tinker with Article 35 A. Reports said that all shops and other business establishments of the Muslim community remained closed, however, traffic was plying on the roads as usual.
In Kishtwar district of the region, shops and business establishments remained closed and transport also remained off the roads.
Reports said that contingents of Indian paramilitary forces have been deployed at various sensitive points in Bhaderwah and Kistwar.
