Hindutva outfit creates ruckus over recitation of Quranic verses in UP school

Lucknow, April 19 : A school has suspended its principal after people associated with Hindutva groups created a ruckus over the recitation of some verses of Holy Quran in the school in the BJP-ruled Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.
The BLS International School management has suspended Principal Sonia, and two Muslim teachers Irfan Ilahi and Akbar Rizwan, in Hathras district of the state.
The videos on social media show that a large number of Hindutva outfit members gathered at the BLS International School and started reciting ‘Hanuman Chalisa’. They also demanded action against the teacher who reportedly asked the students to recite the verses of Holy Quran.
The Hindutva supporters said they will continue protesting against the school unless it is shut down and a bulldozer razes it. Hindutva leader Deepak Sharma even stopped a school bus carrying teachers and some staff.
The photos of the function that were made viral on social media are said to be from a school function on the occasion of World Heritage Day.
Through its Facebook page, the school announced that its management has suspended the principal following the protests by the Hindu extremists.
