Church vandalised, Jesus statue damaged by Hindutva terrorists in Karnataka

Mysuru, Dec 29): A church was vandalised  by Hindutva people in BJP-RSS ruled Indian state Karnataka.

The assailants vandalised  Karnataka’s  St Mary Church at Mysuru's Periyapatna,  and also damaged the statue of baby Jesus at the church in Mysuru city of the state.

The vandalism comes amid a surge in Hindutva attacks against Christian institutions across India.

the incident took place at St Mary’s Church in Periyapatna, about 85 kilometres from Mysore city.

The police claimed that they have been formed to trace the accused who are on the run. They will also check the footage captured by CCTV cameras installed on the premises of the church to identify the accused.

“We are scouting for clues from the CCTV footage recorded by nearby cameras. Prima Facie looks like it is theft, as they have made away with money, and also with one collection box that was placed outside the church,” NDTV quoted Seema Latkar, Superintendent of Police, Mysuru as saying.

Several churches and Christian institutions have been targeted by Hindutva groups in Karnataka over the allegations of forced religious conversion.

Last Friday, a group of men, armed with sticks, attacked a Christmas programme in another Indian state Uttarakhand's Uttarakashi alleging that forced conversions were being carried out there. agencies
