Guwahati, Sep 01: A madrassa in Assam’s Bongaigaon district in India was demolished by BJP-RSS authorities on Wednesday.
A teacher of the madrassa was arrested last week on a fake case imposed on him by the BJP govt.
Around a dozen of excavators were deployed to demolish the two-storey building of the Kabaitari Ma Arif Madrassa in Jogighopa area of the district, the police officer said, adding that other structures on the premises were also being razed to the ground.
This is the second such action this week as a madrassa in Barpeta district was demolished on Monday.
The police officer from Bongaigaon said the Kabaitari Ma Arif Madrassa was being demolished by the Goalpara police on Tuesday night.
The Goalpara police arrested a teacher of the madrassa last week .
Students of the educational institute, which had a residential facility, left for their homes on Tuesday night.

The Bongaigaon district administration has ordered the demolition of the madrassa.
According to a report from the district superintendent of police, the madrassa was home to 224 pupils, according to the deputy commissioner’s directive.
Except for a mosque that was situated in a different section of the madrassa complex, the authorities ordered the demolition of the entire building.
This is the third madrassa in the state to be destroyed this month as a result of increased operations by the Assam Police.
37 Muslims have so far been detained by the police on fake cases.
