61 per cent jailed in Indian distrubed state Assam are Muslims: Data

 Gowhatti, September 20, 2022 In Indian disturbed state Assam have Muslims in prisons, 61%  and 49% of undertrials  Muslims, while the community’s share of the state’s population was 34%, Prison statistics of India revealed. 

There were 161 incidents of police action in Assam, since Sarma assumed office, in which 51 people were killed and 139 others injured. At least 22 out of them were Muslims.
According to the data compiled by Prison Statistics of India, In 2021, 30% of all prisoners in Indian jails were Muslim. As of 2011.
It is noteworthy that despite the minority only made up 34% of the State’s population, 61% of Assam’s inmates on death row and 49% of those awaiting trial were Muslims. 
Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and In Indian states like Gujarat, U.P., Haryana, had the highest proportion of Muslim detainees relative to their population.
