Srinagar, POONCH, Mar 31: An 18-year- old 12th class girl student was raped by a govt member Sarpanch, at Baila area of Mandi tehsil in Poonch district.
A police spokesman said that a 12th class student, had gone out in the evening, when the Sarpanch of her village (patronized by establishment), identified as Tariq Manzoor (33), son of Manzoor Ahmed, resident of Baila in Mandi tehsil, kidnapped and raped her in a nearby field late on March 30 evening.
He said the accused later threatened the girl of dire consequences if she told about the incident to her parents. The girl narrated the incident to her parents and they filed a complaint at Police Station, Mandi today Mar 31.
He said the Medical examination of the girl confirmed that she was raped. The accused was still at large and several police teams were trying to nab him. He has been booked in case FIR No. 18/2015 under Section 376 RPC in Mandi police station.
