PuneMarch 25: An 11-year-old school girl was raped by a man inside of her school in Indian city Pune. A 40-year-old man, identified as Mangesh Padamulu, raped an 11-year-old girl inside the washroom of her school.
As per the FIR statement, the girl was at her school when the accused pulled her to a corner and told her that he was a close friend of her father. He then dragged her to a washroom and raped her.
Before the girl could shout for help, the accused threatened her with dire consequences if she spoke about the incident. The girl did not tell her friends but she told her parents about the rape, following which a complaint was lodged.
The girl was then admitted to a hospital for treatment and is said to be in a stable condition.
Police said the girl had told her parents that an unidentified man raped her in school and the accused was arrested within 10 hours of the investigation.
CCTV footage was screened and witnesses were questioned for clues about the unidentified rapist. Simultaneously, a sketch of the accused was released. Later in the evening, police succeeded in arresting the accused.
The accused was traced through footage captured by CCTV cameras on the school premises. The accused was spotted walking around suspiciously. He was arrested in a liquor shop in the Shivajinagar area.
He confessed that he committed the crime during the interrogation. The accused has been taken into custody and further investigation is underway.
