Student killed in Sopore violence

Srinagar, May, 18  2014: Unidentified gunmen in an inhuman act had tied a 24-year old college student Abid Dar son Ghulam Nabi Dar to a tree trunk before shooting him in his head from a point blank range during the intervening night at Tarzoo in Sopore. Police said he was final year student of Govt Degree College Sopore identified as Abid Nabi Dar son of Ghulam Nabi. They said he had been shot in head from point blank range.  Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Syed Ali Gilani in their separate statements condemned the gruesome murder of a youth by anti-movement elements in Sopore town. Hizbul Mujahideen in its statement while condemning this inhuman act has expressed solidarity with the victim family.
A  local police official said on Sunday they were informed about a bullet-ridden body in forested on the fringes of the town. "The youth was shot from a point blank range in his head and was tied to a tree trunk," he confirmed.  

Abid, 24, sources said had left his home in the evening on Saturday and had not returned.  He was a final year graduation student, his brother Arif told media men of Firdous Khan of Kashmir dispatch. Sources said that he was a liberation worker. His body was taken to sub district hospital for post mortem.  

Abid was missing from his home since Saturday evening. Sopore residents who spotted his body tied to a tree trunk assemble at the spot . Abid had been missing from his home in Krankshivan in the apple town since Saturday evening. Resident of Sopore talking to media media over phone said that such act is inhuman, adding that anti-Kashmir and anti-movement elements being involved in such inhuman and uncivilised acts.
