Police harass, tortured a labour physically in Bandipore

Srinagar, 23 February 2016:  A local resident from Vijpara Bandipora  on Monday  has said that a police officer after illegally detaining him for two days in lockup tortured him physically resulting in fracture of his right arm. Manzoor Ahmed Lone son of late Fathe Muhammad of Vijpara Hajin appeared in Press Enclave Srinagar and accused Station House Officer Hajin of unnecessary harassment.Police “SHO Hajin called me to his police station on the pretext of some verification where he arrested me for two days on the behest of a local who owes me some money,” Lone told reporters.
He said that some respectable citizens from his village visited police station and resented illegal  action of SHO. “Station House Officer not only humiliated them and kicked them out from police station but also entered into lock up and beat me blue and black. He thrashed me mercilessly causing fracture to my arm and hand,” the victims said added that after sound beating he allowed me to go on the condition he will not let anybody know about the incident. He said that no FIR was lodged against him and yet for two day’s he and his family members suffered mental agony.
