Srinagar, April 6th, 2014: Indian armys trooper of 160th Battalion Territorial Army forcibly barged into the house and disgraced and raped an innocent girl in Kupwara district on Sunday April 6thA police official while confirming the incident said Medical sources confirmed that the woman was raped.
Official sources told media men Police who on Saturday evening arrested Territorial Army trooper Showkat Ahmad Malik (belt no. 12954783)of 160 TA, a resident of Trehgam after he forcibly entered inside a residential house near his army unit at Zurhama Trehgam in Kupwara  district raped a young girl inside the room whe she raised alarm trooper raped her before neighbours rushed in.
Sources said locals caught hold of the trooper and thrashed him. Some residents tipped off the police who reached the spot and arrested the trooper.
A police official while confirming the incident said that a TA Indian trooper has been arrested and a case under FIR no. 19/2014 under section 458, 376 RPC has been registered against him and further investigations taken up.Police sent the woman for medical examination. “We have booked him for rape,” the officer said. Medical sources confirmed that the woman was raped, he added.
Protests erupted in a village of Kupwara district, on Sunday against  rape of a girl by a Territorial Army man. The protesters earlier caught hold of the accused and handed him over to police.
Angry mob of the village Marhama, some six Kms from Trehgam in district Kupwara Satrurday evening caught hold of a territorial army man namely Showkat Ahmad Malik and beat him to pulp for allegedly raping of a village girl. The people later handed him over to police. Police sources confirmed the incident and said that Showkat is in the custody of Trehgam police.
He had barged into the house of the woman last evening and  raped her after gagging her mouth, the police said.
