Grenade blast in Srinagar market, 9 injured

Srinagar, Oct 12, 2019: At least nine people including a woman were injured in a grenade blast at Hari Singh High Street in  Srinagar.The injured identified as Saba Malik wife of Tariq Ahmad Malik of Zoonimar, Bilal Ahmad son of Abdul Gani of Uri, Farooq Ahmad Kadla son of Ghulam Mohammad of Lal Bazar, Basit Ahmad son of Mohammad Iqbal of Batamalloo, Mohammad Yunis son of Mohammad Ismail Bhat of Bemina, Suhail Ahmad son of Ghulam Mohammad of Pampore Pulwama, Shahid Ahmad son of Ghulam Mustafa of Padshahi Bagh, Saifullah son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat of Zaldagar and Abdul Rashid Wani son of Abdul Salam of central Budgam.
The incident happened around a week after a similar blast occurred near Deputy Commissioner’s office at  Islamabad (Anantnag) in south Kashmir leaving scores of people injured.

According to the official, the explosion also damaged windows of a vehicle parked nearby.
He said the shops in the market were shut but a few vendors had set up stalls in the area.
The grenade exploded with a bang when a large number of people were busy in buying items from road side vendors.
Meanwhile, the situation across Kashmir remained unchanged on the 69th day as well. Business, educational activities remained suspended while public transport continued to remain off the roads.
