The 21-year-old B.Tech student has been hit in both eyes and chest in clashes that erupted in late afternoon hours in Moominabad area of Islamabad town.
One injured youth was brought to SMHS in critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries on Sunday evening.
Medical superintendent SMHS, Dr Nazir Chowdhary said that “Youth was brought here in critical condition. He had shell injury in his chest but he succumbed.”
As per eyewitness, the youth was a resident of Fateh Kadal, in downtown Srinagar. He was identified as Irfan Ahmad.
Angry resident in the old city areas flouted curfew and have assembled in the Jamia Masjid to offer funeral prayers to victim young youth Irfan. His body was being taken to the Jamia in a procession by the youth, reports reaching from the area said.
Identified as Irfan, a resident of Malik Angan Fateh Kadal, he was hit by a tear smoke shell in Malarata. He was immediately rushed to SMHS where he breathed his last.
“Doctors have confirmed that he was injured by a tear smoke shell.”

A 9-yr-old Shahid A Bhat is Latest Entrant at SHMS’s Ward 8 in Srinagar was ruthlessly beat up by Indian police ay Khaag and was admitted at Srinaagr's SMHS Hospital. Shahid lies numb on a bed in much-touted ward number 8 of Srinagar’s SMHS hospital. The ward has become treatment den for pellet injured hit in the eye(s). His left eye carrying a deep wound is covered with swathes of white bandage after being operated.
He is still recovering from the anaesthesia that was employed at the time of surgery.
The kid was injured when according to his cousin Jameela (not her real name), a cop hit him in the eye with his baton.
Jameela said that on Saturday evening, Shahid was out of the house when clashes erupted in Khaag area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
“The cops fired tear gas shells, pellets and chased away youth,” she recalled. “A cop caught hold of Shahid and hit him with his stick which left a deep wound in his left eye.” He was brought home profusely bleeding by boys.
We took him to a nearby hospital in Khaag, where doctors referred him to SMHS Srinagar.
With ban on mobile telephony, the parents of Shahid who live in Sigyen village, far away from Khaag, are yet to know about the incident.
A young man suffered a mild heart attack after Indian police and paramilitary harassed him and his wife at Safa Kadal while they were on way to Government Dental College Karan Nagar Srinagar.
As per the witness who quoted the victim, “the J&K Policemen stopped us and tried to turn us back but when I told them that my wife is suffering with pain in her Jaw, they refused to listen. One of the police men attempted to hit my wife with a stick.”
The witness said that he was shivering like anything and “then I took him to SMHS Hospital where doctors treated him.The couple is believed to be residents of Soura Srinagar.He added that the victim is now out of danger.
