Curfew-like restrictions imposed in Srinagar, regime thwarts Eidgah march

Srinagar, May 21, 2014:The authorities had imposed curfew and strict restrictions in different parts of Srinagar city while all roads leading to the Martyrs Graveyard were sealed to prevent people from converging at the Eidgah. 
Curfew-like restrictions were imposed on Wednesday in seven areas of the city ahead of a rally planned by Hurriyat Conference. "Restrictions under Section 144 CrPC have been imposed in seven police station areas of the city," police said.The areas where restrictions have been imposed are Khanyar, Nowhatta, Safakadal, Rainawari, M R Gunj, Kralkhud and Zadibal, he said.
Elsewhere, life remained affected due to a shutdown called by the pro-freedom conglomerate. 
Heavy contingents of police and paramilitary troopers restricted the movement of civilians by erecting mobile bunkers and concertina wires on main squares and bridges, witnesses told media men. Agencies
