Srinagar, September 09, 2011: A woman was seriously injured in the eye when paramilitary CRPF trooper shot a marble from a slingshot at Saraf Kadal in Srinagar City on Friday September 9.
Reports quoting eyewitnesses said that clashes erupted between protestors and contingent of Police and paramilitary CRPF at Saraf Kadal area.
The police and CRPF resorted to baton charge to disperse the youth. The CRPF also fired marble from slingshot at the youths.
Eyewitnesses said, CRPF aimed a marble at the woman identified as Sobiya wife of Sajjad Ahmad Thokar of Waniyar Srinagar. She has been admitted in a hospital. Official sources confirmed that Sobiya has sustained a serious injury in the eye.
Pertinently, at least twenty-six persons were injured in the eye due to marble slingshots by the CRPF troopers during last year’s mass uprising that left at least 122 civilians including youth and women dead and hunders of people injured. source KDNN
