Srinagar, November 7, 2016: Indian police booked 45 people including a 14-year boy Tajamul Rasool Mir and Nazir Ahmad Rather under draconain law, Public Safety Act (PSA) in Bandipore district, Tajamul Rasool Mir, 14, and Nazir Ahmad Rather were shifted to Kotbalwal jail in Jammu on charges of organizing pro-freedom and anti-India rallies .
Tajamul Rasool Mir, 14, of New Colony Bunpora Saderkoot date of birth as per Tajamul’s Adhaar card is 10-02-2002 which means he is only 14 years of age while the dossier vide No. Lgl/Dossier: 48/2016/23623-26, Dated 15-09-2016 submitted before the District Magistrate by Bandipora Police mentions Tajamul’s age as 18 years. Nazir Ahmad Rather of Watapora has two daughters. Nazir Ahmad Rather son of Mehmood Rather, of Watapora was booked under PSA and shifted to Kotbalwal jail in Jammu. Nazir Ahmed has two daughters 30 persons have been booked under PSA in Sumbal and Hajin areas while as 14 have been booked in Bandipora tehsil," sources said.
Meanwhile, police picked up three persons in Naidkhai village of Hajin town during a night raid.

Authorities have booked a teenage boy under Public Safety Act (PSA) for being “threat to maintenance of public order.”
Subsequently, the District Magistrate Bandipora vide order No.35/DMB/PSA/2016/375-80 dated 16-09-2016 detained him under PSA and shifted him to Kotbalwal Jail in Jammu after going through the material produced by the Superintendent of Police (Bandipora) against Tajamul Rasool. “Whereas on the basis of dossier placed before me by the Superintendent of Police Bandipora vide No. Lgl/Dossier: 48/2016/23623-26, Dated 15-09-2016. I am satisfied that there is sufficient grounds to prevent Tajamul Rasool Mir from acting in any manner which is prejudicial to the maintenance of public order and it is necessary to detain him under Public Safety Act, 1978,” reads the order PSA order of Tajamul, copy of which is available with Greater Kashmir.
“You are a stigma for peace loving citizens in the area and often found instigating/leading the unlawful processions which were organized and mobilized by you and your associates with the intention to kill the Police/Security personnel deployed for maintenance of law and order in the area. Two FIRs No. 57 and 58 under sections 148, 149, 336, 307, 353, 332 and 152 RPC stand registered against him,” the order reads.
Tajamul nick named as “Babul” is the youngest son of 8 member family. His father is a farmer by profession. Tajamul, according to his family, had left the schooling in class 4th due to poverty and adopted stone cutting as profession to help his elder brother who is also in the same profession. “He was at his aunt’s place. He had come home on Thursday evening. On Friday he had again left for Shahgund in Hajin town where his aunt resides,” said his mother Haseena Begum.
She said that they had sent him to his aunt’s place in Shahgund in order to prevent him from taking part in pro-freedom rallies as the situation was very tense at Saderkoot Bala.
“Tajamul was arrested in Hajin on Sunday-11 September and was lodged in Police Station Hajin for 13 days, after that he was booked under PSA and was sent Kotbalwal Jail in Jammu. He is only 14 years old. How can he be a threat to the state or its security establishment? How can a minor be booked under such a stringent law,” said his elder brother Jan Muhammad Mir.
He said that next day a neighbor informed us that Tajamul has been arrested by Hajin police and is lodged at PS Hajin as we were unaware about his detention. “He was arrested along with five other youth from Hajin town,” he added.
Tajamul’s family members have filed a writ petition through Advocate Nasir Qadri before the High Court seeking quashing of PSA against him.
“We have filed a writ petition before High Court through Advocate Nasir Qadri to seek the quashing of Tajamul’s PSA. Next week on Monday we are going to meet the lawyer again,” said Tajamul’s brother.
